The Richard Macksey National Undergraduate Humanities Research Symposium, to be held at Johns Hopkins University from March 19-21, 2026, brings together students from across the country to present their humanities research to a national audience.
We welcome applications from undergraduates currently enrolled at any two- or four-year college or university in the United States or Canada. Presentations must be on topics in the humanities, such as history, art history, media studies, literature, religious studies, philosophy, classics, and area studies. To apply, submit a title and abstract by 11:59pm on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Conference presentations will be a maximum of ten minutes long and will consist of presenting a slide deck. Posters are not accepted. For more information and tips on how to apply, visit the Apply page of our symposium website.
Notifications of acceptance to the symposium will be made by December 23, 2025. Details about registration, travel and accommodations, the keynote speaker, and the conference schedule will be posted on the Attendance Information page of our symposium website as they become available.
