Description

The JHU Pathways and Humanities Collaboratory Summer Research Experience provides opportunities for high-achieving humanities and social sciences students from community colleges, historically black colleges and universities, and minority serving institutions across the country to participate in an intensive and innovative summer research experience.

The JHU Mellon Humanities Collaboratory provides opportunities for emerging humanities students from community colleges to participate in an intensive and innovative summer research experience through the Mellon Humanities for All program. This program is funded through the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The Ph.D. Pathway for Advancement in the Humanities and Social Sciences (PATHS) program aims to recruit and prepare students from underrepresented backgrounds (rising juniors and seniors enrolled at HBCUs, HSIs, MSIs, AANAPISIs, and tribal colleges) to pursue Ph.Ds. in the humanities and social sciences.

These summer programs have a unique approach in bringing together students from different branches of humanities and social sciences scholarship to work together constructively while pursuing individual research projects. In some ways, they are modeled after scientific lab research: while each student will be working towards an individual project, everyone will be gathered together in one location and encouraged to observe and engage their peers and instructors. The 2024 JHU Pathways and Humanities Collaboratory Programs are currently planning to be in person on the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus from May 20-August 2, 2024.
